The material of the work is A4 photocopy paper. Through the simple actions of cutting, rolling, and standing" pieces of paper, a familiar object turns into a work of art. I use everyday objects for my work to connect the venue to daily life while at the same time transforming it into non-everyday atmosphere.
My works consist of repetitions of identical figures or an aggregate of similar forms because I feel numbers and volume create works with a unique allure. Parts and space are based on an established rule or principle. When a piece based on a rule becomes part of an aggregate, the aggregate itself becomes complete as a work of art. I intensely believe that this is a thing of beauty. (Kunio Inoue)
