Supported by a subsidy for creative activity by Shizuoka City, CCC creative resident, Koichi Okamoto (Kyouei design) completed an 11-day creator in residence with the apparatu ceramic studio in Barcelona, Spain from 2011.02.26 to 03.07. During the resience, Mr. Okamoto (product designer) and Xavier Mañosa (apparatu ceremic artist/designer) worked on a collaborative project creating glasses with use of ceramics as a material and held an exhibition in Barcelona. In "Kyouei design x apparatu Spain Residence Exhibition", you can see their collaborative work and their own works with the theme of ceramics which shows you their creative activities. The Creative Talk Show by these two designers will be held during the exhibition as well. This is a not-to-miss exhibition by Kyouei design and apparatu who both have unique styles.

Born in 1970 in Shizuoka City. Under the name "bekkou" Okamoto released the sound source work "hi light" from Dutch techno label X-trax in 1997 and has done music work for Dutch and British labels since. Inspired by Dutch design he started product design work in 2004 and in 2006 began Kyouei Design. From sound producer to product designer, he has been introducing to the world new designs from Shizuoka. He has introduced playful products such as the Honeycomb Lamp and Balloon Lamp. Kyouei also participates in exhibitions and interior product events around the world and has products in over 30 shops internationally including Droog, Atlanta Design Museum, London Design Museum, colette.

Xavier Mañosa is a product designer from Barcelona. Established apparatu in Berlin. He works mainly with ceramics and also teaches in an architectural University in Columbia. He has collaborated with various artists and the works have been exhibited in London, Stockholm, Milano, Barcelona, and Tokyo. Recently he collaborated with Alex Trochut.
