CCC’s competitive program to support budding creatives, NCC09, had a total of 10 exhibit plans submitted. After critical screening, the judges chose 2 winners who held their exhibits held at CCC. The Self-Produce Division winning work, Kiyoshi TAKIZAWA's "Tsunagaru", is an installation which light and space take center stage to the theme of the ties (tsunagari) between the inside and outside born from the memories of school.
Even though this was the first year for this competition, there were a variety of original plans covering many different genres – works built up from the fact the location is a former elementary school, works that make connections to world issues, works that try to bring together materials and place, etc...Each artist brought their best unique skills and point of view, making this a difficult yet enjoyable selection process. It is my wish that this NCC will be a big jumping point for both the artists and the newly-formed CCC.
