In order for Japan's industry to continue it is said that value-added brand marketing, like that in Europe, and products with a design and concept which has strong appeal is needed. Amongst the many local businesses who are foraging into new area, Shizuoka City based Kyouei Design is a design brand that has succeeded internationally. The brand's very appealing products are at once minimal and full of original ideas and have won acclaim from the international media. This exhibit will showcase these "simple, minimal & humorous" products from the beginnings of Kyouei Design to their latest artwork.

Product Designer/Sound Producer.Born in 1970 in Shizuoka City. Under the name "bekkou" Okamoto released the sound source work "hi light" from Dutch techno label X-trax in 1997 and has done music work for Dutch and British labels since. Insoired by Dutch design he started product deign work in 2004 and in 2006 began Kyouei Design. From sound producer to product designer, he has been introducing to the world new designs from Shizuoka. He has introduced playful products such as the Honeycomb Lamp and Baloon Lamp. Kyouei also participates in exhibitions and interior product events around the world and has products in over 30 shops internationally including Droog, Atlanta Design Museum, London Design Museum, colette.
